Leonberg/Schiltach, September 16, 2024 - The Leonberg-based system house and VEGA Grieshaber KG from Schiltach will be working together globally in the future: The international manufacturer of innovative level and pressure measurement technology is modernizing its data centers in Germany, Singapore, China and the USA and has chosen Erik Sterck GmbH as its strategic and operational partner.
The collaboration between the two companies began back in 2022 with a regional DevOps project. Most recently, the focus shifted to the IT infrastructure, as the 3-tier structures previously used no longer met current requirements. After an in-depth review of the options, a hyperconverged infrastructure solution from Nutanix was ultimately chosen. “In a PoC process lasting several weeks, the Erik Sterck GmbH team convinced us of the technology with their in-depth expertise and honest advice. We look forward to using it to bring our infrastructure up to date soon,” says Julian Gißler, Information Technology at VEGA.
The project began last fall with the conversion of the branches in China and Singapore, which has already been successfully completed. “We are delighted that the customer has now also entrusted us with the modernization of the main data center in Schiltach and also wants to implement the data centers in the USA with us,” says Christoph Hesse, Sales Director Germany at Erik Sterck GmbH.
The conversion of the main data center was originally planned for 2025 but was significantly accelerated by the takeover of VMware by Broadcom. “The customer was faced with the challenge of difficult-to-calculate costs and a simultaneous desire for modernization. So we pulled out all the stops to start the project this year,” explains Christoph Hesse. In total, the teams from Erik Sterck and VEGA are converting seven data centers.
