Leonberg, 23 April 2024 - The Leonberg-based system house Erik Sterck has redesigned the IT infrastructure of the Rothenburg-based building automation specialists after many years of collaboration. The focus was on simplification and revising the security precautions.
"From the very beginning, the project with Neuberger GmbH was characterised by a strong partnership of equals, which enabled us to drive forward the numerous projects in a targeted manner," says Erik Sterck, co-founder and managing partner of Erik Sterck GmbH.
The partners simplified existing structures and automated many time-consuming processes by implementing a highly available HCI (hyperconverged infrastructure) technology. Erik Sterck GmbH thus replaced the existing 3-tier environment, which no longer met the increased performance and scalability requirements. Timo Wagner, Head of IT at Neuberger Gebäudeautomation GmbH, on the collaboration: "The Erik Sterck GmbH team had promised that we would no longer have to worry about the actual infrastructure after the end of the project, and that's exactly what we achieved. Today, from the hypervisor upwards, we mainly deal with the applications and only have to invest a fraction of our time in infrastructure issues." The new environment is being continuously developed, which means that the level of automation is constantly increasing.
The partners also focussed on further increasing existing security levels. The choice fell on modernising the backup environment in order to get the company up and running again quickly in the event of a cyberattack. "Unfortunately, the risk of a cyberattack cannot be averted one hundred per cent. We are therefore focussing on developing a plan in the event of an emergency to ensure that systems can be restored quickly. The top priority here is a non-compromisable backup of the data to ensure a secure restore," says Erik Sterck.
